Mr. Halpin was born in Maryborough, Queensland, in the year 1896, being a son of Thomas P. Haplin. of Bundaberg, Queensland. He was educated at the C.B.C., Rockhampton, Queensland; Melbourne University, and finally Cambridge, England. Mr. Halpin is closely connected with educational matters in all parts of the Commonwealth, and since coming to Western Australia in 1914 has identified himself with the commercial side of educutional development. He was associated with the late Mr. R. Wilkes as partner in the well-known commercial training establishment referred to above. Mr. Halpin enlisted in the 16th Battalion and obtained his commission in 1917. He is now Secretary of the 16th Battalion Ex-Officers' Association. He is a member of the Anzac Club and his recreations in earlier days included rugby, cricket and rowing, and today is greatly interested in fishing, tennis and golf.5 |
