Bic Dic Vol V has a reference which may be James - "De Atta b 1862 Canton, arr WA 1879. Worked as a pearl sheller, cook, gardener and general dealer. Between 1881 and 1883 he was employed by James Hanlon, victualler, at Geraldton. Was known to William Adlam for 8 years as one of excellent character when he De Atta applied for naturalisation in 1889. He was baptised in the Church of England, geraldton, on 7 February 1889. Also worked in the Victoria Plains district.³
