For many years the mystery of where Charles Allen Chamberlain had come from had baffled me and the pioneer Chamberlain researchers who started long before I did. After I eventually made contact with some Chamberlain researchers in NSW, I agreed with them that our Charles more than likely matched their missing Charles and so I have included him as the son of William Chamberlain and Susannah Cumming in my tree for a number of years but without absolute proof.
I have recently had my DNA analysed through Ancestry. I have had matches with two descendants of other children of William Chamberlain and Susannah Cumming so it is now proven beyond doubt the Charles Allen Chamberlain was born in Kent in 1829 and that he was the son of William Chamberlain and Susannah Cumming.
Further to the two matches above, my mum's DNA was analysed through Ancestry and the result were available this week (17/1/2017). The William Chamberlain DNA Circle groups three descendants of Charles Allan Chamberlain together and links them directly to 5 descendants of other children of William Chamberlain and Sussanah Cumming.
